 Prototype Information:

PTTX flat cars were designed to carry pipe - and lots of it! The F89-J, 89' Flat Cars were built in the late 1960's for intermodal service. By the 90's, Trailer Train Company found another use for the '89-J' and its flat brethren through the PTTX re-purpose program. Fitted with wood crossbeams, the PTTX fleet was designed to accommodate pipe and bulk loads of varying diameter and weight. Featuring new, side-mounted brake rigging and other PTTX-specific detail, these models roam the rails today, delivering pipe and bulk loads all over North America.

Built by TrinityRail starting in late 2003 the 64' Refrigerated Boxcar was designed to replace aging reefer cars. Large enough to fit the equivalent of four 53' truck trailer contents these excess height plate "F" cars have given new life to once flourishing refrigerated movement of produce and other perishable goods. The 64' designation refers to the inside length of the car.

Spine cars are one of the most recognizable freight cars on the rails today.  Named after their simple, spine-like appearance, these versatile cars carry anything from highway trailers, to international, corrugated containers.  Built in late 1997 by Trinity Rail for TTX, these 5-Unit Spine Car's feature TTAX reporting marks.  While very similar to other 53' Trinity Spine Cars, the "RAF53C" class boasts nearly 250, 5-car sets on the TTX roster.

Model Information:

Finally!  A ready-to-run spine car in N Scale!  Don't worry, we've done our homework!  As always, this project started with actual blueprints and measurements; the result is 100% authentic dimensions.  Furthermore, like the prototype, the N Scale models were designed for versatility. The models feature a die-cast metal frame and dozens of separately applied plastic and etched-metal components.  From there, each car is painted to exact TTX yellow and lettered as appropriate for the RAF53C fleet. These cars ride on our all-new 70-Ton ASF Ride Control truck with fine-scale metal wheels!  On top of that, the cars feature body mounted Micro-Trains couplers!  You can bet that empty or loaded, these cars will track, and look great as they glide down your rails.  Prototype Information:

First produced in 1948 for the Pennsylvania Railroad as Class G31, PRR purchased 11,600 welded cars of this body style in the G31/G31A/G31B and G35 serving every corner of North America in many customer applications.  Besides PRR several other railroads purchased these gondolas from ACF and many former PRR were purchased second hand by various railroads.  Most of these gondolas were phased from revenue service during the 1990's.
