Dayniter Coach Prototype Information:

Lightweight coaches usually came in one of two styles: a high-capacity coach for commuter or local runs and a roomier "Leg-Rest" coach for long (often overnight) journeys. In keeping with the Rapido tradition, the Leg-Rest coach follows the CN prototype and clever nomenclature: "Dayniter" explains exactly what this coach is and does. Though CN's French name, "Superconfort," is also used to refer to these cars. As you probably guessed, it means "This seat is amazingly plush and ergonomic, don't you think?" The Dayniter features the same incredible level of detail as the Duplex Sleeper and Lightweight Coach, and of course comes supplied with the popular "Easy-Peasy" battery-powered interior lighting. RAPIDO TRAINS is working on two more car styles which they hope to announce towards the end of the year.

RAPIDO TRAINS is a Canadian manufacturer who specializes in North American Passenger Equipment.  After several years in HO they are now bringing their expertise to N-Scale.  Please note that the name RAPIDO TRAINS has nothing to do with ARNOLD-RAPIDO, the original manufacturer of N-Scale.  The name comes from a famous Canadian passenger train rich operating during the 1960's.  RAPIDO TRAINS models are produced to exacting standards and they also feature some innovative technology like their battery operated interior lighting units which totally eliminate flicker.

Our N scale line is called Panorama, after the CN train of the same name which ran during the "golden years" of CN passenger services, the 1960s. While North American passenger train services experienced an unprecedented decline during that decade, CN was growing its passenger business by leaps and bounds. It leased cars from the States and bought sleepers, dome cars and lounge cars from several railroads - including Milwaukee Road, Florida East Coast and Erie-Lackawanna - to bolster its customer-focused motto of "Traveliving."

Just as CN invested in better passenger trains in the 1960s, we've invested in a better N scale passenger car for 2009. The Panorama Line passenger cars present an unprecedented level of detail for N scalers.

The first two car styles are the Lightweight Coach and 4-8-4 Duplex Sleeper. All Panorama Line passenger cars feature:

• Super-detailed underbody

• Body-mounted Micro-Trains® couplers

• Stunning trucks molded on all four sides

• Fixed steps or partial skirts, as appropriate

• All air, steam and electrical lines represented

• Insulated 36" metal wheelsets (no pizza cutters!)

• "Easy-Peasy" battery-powered interior lighting operated by magnetic wand (included)

• Flush windows with painted gaskets and shades

• Full interior detail including armrests and headrests

• Diaphragms with etched brass end gates (not shown)

• Painted metal roof grab irons applied at the factory

• Multiple car names and/or numbers per paint scheme

• Will operate smoothly on curves down to 11" radius
