Quality Built Rolling Stock by The N-Scale Division

We found a "hidden vein" of ROUNDHOUSE/MODEL DIE CASTING kits from the late 1990's. Anyone familiar with these will remember they were excellent quality and were well ahead of their time.  These kits were very accurate, they offered excellent variations and they were produced in unusual paint schemes that other manufacturers never offered.  The only issues were the trucks and the older style Rapido couplers.  The truck kingpin holes were off center and that resulted in the cars wobbling down the track.  We solved that problem by discarding all of the old trucks and replacing them with genuine MICRO-TRAINS trucks, couplers and kingpins. Every one of our exclusive built-ups rides straight and true.  The kits were proudly manufactured in the USA!  We carefully assembled them in house making them a true made in the USA product from start to finish.  The photos below show the process.  Would we do it again?  Probably not.  It was a lot more work than we first thought.  Below are the fruits of our labor, about 150 quality built-up cars from the classic line of ROUNDHOUSE/MODEL DIE CASTING rolling stock.  Take advantage of them while they last!  Once gone, there will be no more.

Here's a Look at the Assembly Process
Step 1: Here are some of the raw bottoms after being removed from the kit boxes.	Step 2: Flash being removed by a miniature drum sander.  Each was then washed in preparation for painting.	Step 3: Each of the bottoms was given two carefully applied coats of genuine FLOQUIL engine black.
Step 4: The bottom just after the installation of genuine MTL trucks/couplers.	Step 5: Here is a picture of the brakewheel right after installation.	Step 6: Completed!  The oval decal on the box lid is the finishing touch.
